Job Summary
The Production Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of wells and pads on an assigned route, ensuring that all key metrics are met. This role requires daily identification and resolution of production variances using tools such as Production Viewer, PI, and Cygnet.
The technician must develop and implement step-by-step plans to maintain or exceed the clean average target for wells, seeking assistance from lead area technicians, optimizers, or production foremen when necessary. Site and plunger inspections must be verified using PBI tools to ensure compliance with key performance indicators. Additional responsibilities include verifying correct coding and ensuring wells are assigned appropriately.
The technician will assist in other field areas when their route is complete and all metrics are met for the day. The role also includes the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various equipment such as wellheads, coolers, separators, heater treaters, blowcases, compressors, scrubbers, and chemical loops depending on site requirements.
Essential qualifications include proficiency in Access Control, Surface Modeling, CrypTool, Inspection Procedures, Communication Skills, Pressure Measurement, Caliper Measurement Tools, Industrial Valves, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Lean Principles, Mold Design and Fabrication, Logistics Management, and Reporting & Analytics. The Production Technician must ensure all operations align with company standards and contribute to the overall efficiency and safety of the production process.
Key Responsibilities
Safely and efficiently produce wells/pads on the assigned route.
Identify production variance using Production Viewer, PI, Cygnet, and other tools.
Devise and execute plans to maintain well production at or above clean average.
Collaborate with Lead Area Tech, Optimizer, and Production Foreman for assistance.
Ensure all key metrics are met through regular site and plunger inspections.
Verify no overdue site and plunger inspections using the PBI tool.
Target verifications and gaps using the COW tool and SIMOPS in operation.
Maintain a 15% verification-to-gap target ratio annually.
Ensure correct and up-to-date coding for all operations.
Verify that Normal Ops – No Action codes are accurate and all troubleshooting is completed.
Reassign wells above clean average back to Normal Ops – No Action.
Follow up on codes in the engineering/optimization bucket longer than 7 days.
Provide field assistance in other areas if metrics are met for the day.
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment such as wellheads, coolers, separators, heater treaters, blowcases, compressors, scrubbers, chemical loops, H₂S treaters, flash gas scrubbers, tanks, GLVs, air compressors, coalescers, fuel gas systems, SKO, cellars, containments, catalytic heaters, and control valves.
Manage tank levels and bottoms recirculation pump requirements.
Required Qualifications
Associate's degree or equivalent technical certification in a related field.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a process technician or similar role within the oil and gas industry.
Proficiency in using Production Viewer, PI, Cygnet, and other production monitoring tools.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address production variances.
Ability to devise and implement action plans to achieve and maintain well production targets.
Experience collaborating with Lead Area Tech, Optimizer, and Production Foreman.
Proven track record of meeting key metrics through regular site and plunger inspections.
Familiarity with using PBI tools for verifying site and plunger inspections.
Knowledge of COW tool and SIMOPS for targeting verifications and gaps.
Ability to maintain a 15% verification-to-gap target ratio annually.
Attention to detail in ensuring correct and up-to-date coding for operations.
