Reporting to a local People Services Specialist, this role serves as a key point of contact for routine HR inquiries while helping ensure accurate, confidential, and seamless employee support.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The People Services Coordinator will report to a local People Services Specialist and will provide administrative and transactional HR support across the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, job changes, transfers, and separations.
As a first point of contact for routine HR inquiries, this role will triage and resolve employee questions related to HR policies, procedures, payroll timelines, and general employment matters, escalating more complex issues to the appropriate People Services Specialist or Center of Excellence (COE) expert as needed.
A core responsibility of the role is the accurate and timely entry, maintenance, reconciliation, and auditing of employee data across the organization’s two primary HRIS platforms—JD Edwards (JDE) EnterpriseOne for payroll and compensation processing, and Workday as the system of record for organizational and people data —to ensure consistency, data integrity, and confidentiality at all times.
The role will also support regular audits, reporting, and cross-system reconciliation efforts while helping deliver a seamless and positive experience for employees and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will bring strong attention to detail, sound judgment in handling sensitive information, and the ability to manage high volumes of transactional work with accuracy.
TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Employee Lifecycle Support
• Serve as the first point of contact for routine HR customer service inquiries from employees and managers via various communication channels. Escalating complex issues to the People Services Specialist or HR Business Partner as appropriate.
• Support the full onboarding process for new hires, including document collection, system setup, and facilitating new hire orientation.
JOB SUMMARY
People Services Coordinator
• Process employee separations, including termination entries in JDE and Workday, final pay coordination, and offboarding checklist completion.
• Maintain and update vacation/sick leave accruals within JDE.
• Generate and run standard Workday or JDE HR reports to support audits, compliance, and team reporting needs.
• Assist with leave of absence administration, including tracking and updating leave status in JDE.
• Support re-organizational efforts by initiating and processing Move Worker (Supervisory) transactions in Workday.
• Act as quality assurance and approve/reject job changes entered by the business or another HR COE (Center of Excellence.)
Administrative & Team Support
• Maintain organized and accurate employee files in compliance with company policy and applicable regulations.
• Prepare and distribute employment verification letters, status change confirmations, and other standard HR correspondence.
• Support People Services coverage across assigned business units as outlined in the People Services Support Model and help coordinate cross-entity transactions and ensure consistent application of processes across AltaGas, SEMCO Energy, and WGL entities in both systems as applicable.
• Assist with data gathering and preparation for HR projects, including audits, mass organizational changes, and system migrations.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to streamline administrative processes and documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education & Experience
Required
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or 2+ years equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Experience: 1–2 years of administrative or HR support experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency with data entry and record-keeping in an HRIS environment.
