 Detailed Description:
  • Provide expected delivery times to the Foreman or Supervisor on all items being welded and prepared for the fabrication shop
  • Choose and process materials with precision and identify raw materials as required by Work Order
  • Identify training needs required for the use of any machines
  • Promptly address and resolve concerns and disputes among team members, with the goal of building a stronger, more cohesive workgroup
  • Interpret drawings to ensure compliance to weld design
  • Safely utilize welding equipment, including gouging tools, fillet weld gauge, 4'' grinder, 6'' grinder, cutting torch, magnetic drill, and track torch
  • Mark/stamp all items with Welder Number per Operation Procedures to allow for traceability throughout manufacturing
  • Read and interpret shop work orders
  • Receive materials, parts, or components issued to a Work Order
  • Verify that all materials and consumables meet the design and shop requirements.
  • Label materials with Heat Numbers and Part Numbers following company procedures.
  • Properly and safely load and unload materials/parts using hoist, forklift, and or by Manual means
  • Properly store all raw materials in the designated areas
  • Transfer all finished parts to appropriate departments
  • Ensure safe and clean appearance of fabrication shop in designated area
  • Ability to work safe in a yard and shop environment while wearing appropriate PPE, follow company guidelines and procedures and help ensure others do the same
  • Ensure all actions are performed in accordance with Company standards to include safety, conduct, and proper use of company resources
  • All other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
  • Pass a “weld test” per the Company’s Welding Procedures
  • Be able to pass a physical pre-welding test before being sent to the actual test
  • Possess the items listed in the Tool List
  • Interpret drawings to ensure compliance to weld design
  • Perform full pin welds
  • Read, add, subtract and understand fractions and decimals
  • Use and understand weld symbols, sizes, abbreviations, notes, and welding terminology
  • Weld and follow company welding procedures and specifications
  • Weld pipe and structural steel items per design as required
  • Remove all sharp edges and burrs
  • Utilize the following tools with 100% proficiency:
    • Tape measure and square
    • Gouging tools
    • Fillet weld gauge
    • 4'' and 6'' grinder
  • Utilize the following tools as described
    • Cutting torch: Lay out and hand cut
    • Track torch: Bevel steel plates
  • Safely utilize a crane, hoist, and forklift
  • Ensure weld machines are calibrated and ready to use
  • Proficiently utilize the different procedures for preheating materials
  • Ability to read and understand
  • Ability to weld in 3g-4g with Mig, flux core, or stick in different material thicknesses and mixed materials
  • Ability to pass 3g-4g weld certification
  • Work on a task both alone and with co-workers as needed to assist in daily activities and delivery requirements
  • Lift and carry 50 pounds independently while walking on uneven surfaces
  • Able to occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and crawl
  • Frequent use a variety of hand and power tools to perform a range of mechanically oriented functions including independent use of heavy-duty handheld and long-handled tools
  • Clear vision to judge near and far distances to maintain awareness of, watch, and report ongoing work activities to coworkers and third parties
  • Listen for unusual noises that signify equipment and machinery problems
  • Maintain spatial orientation and awareness to safely move around work environment with many moving objects
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all designated times
Minimum Qualifications
All Level Requirements: 
  • 1-2 years relevant welding work experience
Additional Details:
An offer for this position is contingent upon successful completion of the following items with a satisfactory outcome.
  • Pass a 3g and4g weld certification immediately upon hire
  • Physical pre-welding test to demonstrate competency
  • Weld test per the Company’s welding guidelines and procedures.
 
This position requires work both indoors and outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions, including precipitation, cold / heat, high wind, and turbulent conditions. The candidate will be regularly exposed to the typical conditions of the local area where the Rig Up Yard  is located.
The candidate must work with an emphasis on safety for themselves and others including coworkers and third parties. They must be willing to work extended schedules that will include working days, and occasionally nights, weekends and holidays.
