Position Description
The Document Controller will be responsible for ensuring that all documentation related to Surface Facilities is organized, stored and managed in an efficient manner. This person will establish a set of documentation practices for employees, contractors and vendors and ensure these practices are implemented. The Document Controller will report to the Director of Surface Facilities. The position can be remote but will require some travel to offices in Houston, San Francisco, and Reno and to the field across the Western States.

The Document Controller will be responsible for ensuring that all documentation related to Surface Facilities is organized, stored and managed in an efficient manner. This person will establish a set of documentation practices for employees, contractors and vendors and ensure these practices are implemented. The Document Controller will report to the Director of Surface Facilities. The position can be remote but will require some travel to offices in Houston, San Francisco, and Reno and to the field across the Western States.
Responsibilities
- Manage an engineering document management system (EDMS) for all Surface Facilities documentation, including engineering drawings, equipment manuals, procedures, and other technical documents.
- Ensure that all documentation is properly reviewed, approved, and stored in accordance with company procedures and industry standards.
- Work with project teams to ensure that all documentation is up to date and accurately reflects project requirements and specifications.
- Develop and implement procedures for document control, including version control, document numbering, and file naming conventions.
- Manage the distribution of documentation to project team members and external stakeholders, including vendors and contractors.
- Coordinate with the Surface Facilities team to ensure that all documentation is readily available and easily accessible.
- Provide training and support to team members on document control procedures and systems.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in document control for a large infrastructure company
- Knowledge of document control procedures and systems, including version control, document numbering, and file naming conventions.
- Familiarity with engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, information management, information technology, data management, or computer information systems is preferred
- Familiarity with an engineering document management system (EDMS)
- Familiarity with Adobe Pro, Bluebeam
- Familiarity with the energy industry & standards (piping, electrical, civil )
